The 2014 Shriners Open Is A Week Away!

with No Comments

With a week to go until the start of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open I thought it would be a great time for a little pre tourney commentary.

This years field looks great with, in my opinion, the current FedEx Cup Champion Billy Horschel headlining the list of participants. With names like Padraig Harrington, Brendt Snedeker, Webb Simpson, Ryo Ishikawa, Hideki Matsuyama, Jimmy Walker and Nick Watney competing there’s going to be some must watch golf for sure.

Local favorites and previous Shriners Champs Ryan Moore and Kevin Na are back and also more local talent (via Vegas or UNLV Golf) will be on display with Scott Piercy, Derek Ernst, Chad Campbell, Andres Gonzales and Charley Hoffman (I’m sure I’m missing another one or two)

I’m looking forward to seeing some of the new guys on the tour as well. Mainly big bomber Tony Finau!.

It’s great to see all these names on the field list. The Vegas PGA stop is still far from being a “big” tourney since it’s still being held under the dark cloud of the previous “Fall Season” name. But, with all the new sponsors and community support the tourney is getting, I’m look forward to this years tournament being one of the best in a long time. There’s going to be a pool for Pete’s Sake… A POOL!! Only in Vegas!

Here is what is posted on website for the tourney field, hope to see you out there!

The professional player field is accurate as of Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
