The countdown to my Florida trip has begun! Who am I kidding? I’ve been counting down the days for months! A break from the cold, not that 60° is cold but a chance to play some golf in some shorts under the sun, and rain, sure beats my little cinder block box I’m stuck in daily for 10 hours at a time.
FIRST STOP BOCA RATON
I’m flying into Miami on Saturday morning; the plane gets in around 7am and from there we’ll be heading up North to Pat’s home town Boca Raton where we have 3 days of golf scheduled. The weather forecast isn’t quite as amazing as I’d hoped it would be. Looks like it’s going to be in the lower 70’s but I’ll take that over 46° like it is here in Vegas today!
Saturday, Sunday and Monday should be a blast. It’s been 3 years since my last trip to see Pat and that trip was great. Now that I’m just a little better, not much, than I was back in 2011 maybe I’ll throw up some better scores vs. the last trip.
So far it looks like we’ll be playing Osprey Pointe, Atlantis Country Club, maybe the Palm Beach Par 3 course and Monday we haven’t decided on yet.
It’s going to be fun that’s all I know!
ORLANDO AND THE PGA SHOW
This I’m too excited for no matter how many veterans of the show tell me how much they didn’t enjoy going and have stopped making the trip. Are you kidding me? To be fair my reasons for going are a little different from some of the PGA pro’s or retailers that go year after year. As a blogger this is my Superbowl “The Big Game” at the end beginning of the season and I cannot wait to walk the rows and rows of retailers and manufactures all displaying things I enjoy too much!
Also I’m finally going to get to meet some of the people I’ve been interacting with over the last couple of years and that’s going to be awesome. I’m planning on meeting up with Adam and Matt from Three Guys Golf at the show and also for a round (or two). We talk so much via text messages and phone calls it’s going to be nice to actually have a normal conversation and a beer with them!
Ryan Peterson, aka @UtahGolf via Instagram fame will be joining me as well in Orlando and were going to be hitting the links on Tuesday before we spend as much time as humanly possible at the Demo Day. I know a lot of people think I’m silly for liking the Demo Day but like I said earlier as I golf blogger and a fan of the game it’s an exciting event for me. The Vegas PGA show Demo night is a blast and it’s maybe 1/10th the size of Orlando’s version and who doesn’t like smashing balls with new stuff right?
Who knows, maybe the veterans are right and maybe I’ll despise every moment I’m there and wish I was back in my cell office plugging away at my keyboard. I think I’ll take the chances and see how it goes!
I’ll have some cool news to share once I get back from Orlando. It involves a lil equipment change for my bag!
