Death Valley Challenge News
It’s that time of the year folks! Well, not really the 2013 Death Valley Challenge is still 6 months away. But, I figured now is as good a time as any to get the ball rolling on the 2013 Challenge!
This year’s event is going to be just a little bit different than last years. Instead of just Bill and myself, two others are going to join us is the challenge. Randy and Dan, also from The Breakfast Ball Hall of Fame, will take the journey with us. The journey down to 214′ below sea level. The four of us are going to do our best to best the 72 holes that were completed last year.
Here’s a little info about Furnace Creek Ranch Golf Course from their website:
Experience one of Golf Digest’s “America’s 50 Toughest Courses” At 214 feet below sea level, we can confidently guarantee you will play your lowest round ever! The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley was recently featured on PGA champion, Steve Elkington’s hit show, Secret Golf on CBS Sports Network. Go to Secret Golf’s website to experience Death Valley and The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley from Elkington’s whimsical perspective.
The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley offers great California desert resort golf, a unique golf vacation, and an ideal winter getaway. At 214 feet below sea level, this 18-hole, par 70 course is also the world’s lowest elevation golf course. Palm and tamarisk trees frame the fairways and majestic mountains are visible from all areas of the course. During a 1997 redesign, noted course architect, Perry Dye added subtle mounding and re-contoured greens to the already fun layout.
Water comes into play on nine holes and four sets of tees provide an enjoyable challenge for players of all skill levels. The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley has achieved designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS), the educational division of Audubon International. The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley was the 42nd course in California and the 630th in the world to receive the honor.

There is also a new charity we are raising money for this year. Hopefully, I’ll be able to make the announcement on what we’ll be playing for in the next week or so. I can tell you this though, I am VERY excited about what possibly might take place.
