10 Holiday Gift Ideas for the Golfer

with No Comments

Every year around this time golf sites like to put out a Holiday Gift Guide, or Holiday Gift Ideas, or Best Golf Gift Tips, etc., etc., etc. The Breakfast Ball Golf Blog turns Eight in just a few weeks, and I have yet to produce one of these “Gift Guides.”

Why? Well, it’s harder than you think. But, after this year we’ve made some fantastic contacts with a few new companies and reconnected with some old ones. With the content of our reviews starting to pick up some steam I figured an eight-year hiatus was long enough.

With that being said I present to you The Breakfast Ball’s Holiday Gift Ideas for the Golfer.

Asher Golf

A few months back we took a look at the new revitalized Asher Golf company.

Since then I’ve been more impressed with what their accomplishing. Asher has an excellent understanding of the game and is putting out some fantastic products such as Hats, Gloves, and T-Shirts.

Their hats a very stylish and offer a look I’m happy to wear either on the course or at the bar. They’re mostly known for their golf gloves though and rightfully so. The premium collection is a fixture in my bag and is one of the best performing gloves I’ve ever owned. At a price of $22 per glove, the quality for the price is easily up there with the best in the industry.

Recently Asher Golf launched their new sock initiative, Soles That Care where they are giving back to organizations with every pair of socks purchased. I picked up a few pairs initially and have already ordered some more. They’re excellent socks and have a great look to them as well. And, you just can’t beat the price tag. $9.99 for a high-quality sock makes this an excellent idea for a holiday gift this season.

Dormie Workshop

We have some new covers in for review from Dormie Workshop. It would be silly to keep everyone in suspense about my thoughts on them though. If you’ve seen any of my recent Instagram post or stories, it would be hard to misinterpret my opinion. I love them! The quality is far above average, and the custom work they’ve been doing of late is jaw-dropping. Their website features a ton of their designs, and they are impressive. But, even more, impressive is the custom work they put out.

I met with a couple of the guys when they were in Vegas for the PGA Show that is held here in Las Vegas annually. With them, they brought an impressive collection of covers and a few other items as well.

The price range for work from Dormie ranges between $69-150 for covers. With a variety of accessories also, you’re bound to find a holiday gift for that special golfer in your life.

Cut Golf Balls

You can never go wrong with gifting golf balls, especially if the receiver of said golf balls is a frequent player of the game. However, getting the wrong golf balls could put a severe damper on the relationship. Nobody wants to open up a box of rock-hard Top Flights. Nobody. Even the weekend hacker has an appreciation for a legit golf ball.

Cut Golf has been making a name for themselves over the last year, and they have even gotten my attention. Too many people I know are starting to play their golf balls, and from what I’ve heard from those people, the golf balls are legit.

With four versions to choose from, there’s an option for every golfer. The best selling point though is the price. Ranging from $9.95 to $19.95 Cut Golf has the affordable golf ball market cornered. If you have a golfer in your life and you want to get them a great holiday gift you can’t go wrong with golf balls. Even better, it’s impossible to go wrong with Cut Golf.

JT Spencer Belts

This company is another one we reviewed earlier this year.

What I love about a JT Spencer belt as a gift is how it can last for years. The braided belts are becoming even more popular on the courses. And, the quality and craftsmanship that goes into each belt are outstanding.

All across the country, JT Spencer has made a name for themselves in pro shops. When I was at Cabot in 2016, and at Torrey Pines earlier this year JT Spencer was featured at both locations. It’s a great way to show your appreciation for the course or to hold to a memory of a buddies trip.

They have a wide variety of products to choose from beyond belts and also the custom feature as we reviewed. I’ve fallen in love with the belt. It’s incredibly durable and what I’ve liked the best is there are no more leather belt stains on my $75 polos. It’s an issue for those of us who carry a little extra weight around the midsection. OK, maybe a lot of excess weight. While I reviewed this as a golf product, it goes way beyond the golf realm. I wear mine all the time for events that take place away from the course. So you wouldn’t be limiting your gift to golf use only.

If you’re looking for a high-quality product that’s functional and will last a while, consider JT Spencer for a holiday gift.

Strokes Gained Customs: T-Shirts

I’m a huge T-Shirt guy. I pretty much live in T-Shirts, and I long for the day when they’ll be an acceptable form of attire on the course. Yeah, that day will never come, but it’s not going to stop me from wanting it to happen. While I do respect the dress codes, it doesn’t mean I can’t show my support for my favorite golf companies while outside the golf course.

Thankfully the T-shirt business for golf brands is booming, which makes me happy. I’m getting close to my 30-day plan to wear a different golf T-Shirt every day of the month. And while brands like Nike, Travis Mathews, Lionksoul, and Skramble are excellent (and plentiful in my wardrobe) it’s companies like Strokes Gained Customs that has garnered a lot of my attention lately.

The man behind Strokes Gained, Neal, has an excellent eye for design and also likes to give back to charity. With his “Golfers Supporting Texas” design he released earlier this year after the tremendous Hurricane hit the Houston area, he was able to donate all of the profits from the sales, a whopping $3000 to the fundraiser put out by JJ Watts. That’s kick ass in my opinion.

The T-shirts are high quality and have become a welcome addition to my golf T-Shirt collection. They’d be an excellent gift for the golfer and was an easy choice to add to this list. Check out the Website

TecTecTec! VPRO DLX Range Finder

Maybe the best gift since the Red Ryder, Amazons number 1 rangefinder won’t have you shooting your eye out. In fact, it will do the exact opposite. Various product models will have you hunting pins with ease, and rather quickly I might add. TecTecTec rangefinders lock-in pins extremely fast but will be much easier on your wallet than most competitors in its class. With three different scanning modes, the VPRO DLX will give you confidence for every situation.

Pinseeker mode lets you accurately measure overlapping targets, perfect for measuring the distance to the pin and wooded areas giving you confidence in your distance. First Target Priority mode displays the distance of the closest subject, helpful when measuring the distance to the golf flag on a green with woods in the background.  And Scan mode, useful when checking the distance of hazards, which hopefully you’ll stay out of! With a price point of $179.99 give your friends the gift of confidence this Christmas, without draining the bank account. We give TecTecTec two thumbs up for that perfect holiday gift this year.

Tyson Lamb Ball Markers & Headcovers

Lamb Crafted will bring all the Christmas cheer to your golf bag this season. If you follow the brand, you will notice special edition items being released. This holiday is no exception. With a few different items hitting the site in December, we are sure you can find some great stocking stuffers for that special golfer in your life. Consistent with all products released by Lamb Crafted, the products are proudly made in the USA. Fashion forward and over-engineered since always, the Lamb team has something way better than that fruitcake you had in mind during that holiday gift exchange.

This holiday release will offer two different head covers to choose from, or heck, buy both. A unique candy cane theme and holiday donut design will certainly get you on Santa’s good list this year. Tyson has employed Santa’s elves to crank out not only a holiday ball marker, The Sprinkle Mint, but a lingering sweet tooth had the elves release a matching Frankenstitch marker, to accompany the previous released Halloween cover. All products will be released directly on the LambCrafted website. Greyson Clothiers

This time of year will bring many golfers around the country indoors, due to winter conditions not being suitable for most. Don’t let those well-planned golf outfits go into the closet to become moth bait.

Greyson Clothiers redefines golf and active wear by bringing a design to market that is both fashionable and technical. After 13 years with Ralph Lauren as SVP, founder Charlie Schaefer is no stranger to producing high-quality fashion. Ready to bring innovation, superior quality, and tailoring, Greyson offers the blend of style and sport will prove a sustainable trend, like fitness, wellness, and health are becoming priorities in all facets of life. Passion and vision will drive the team to create specialized products.

The latest offering from Greyson this season is bold but elegant. The Tappan Hybrid jacket is sure to keep you warm but stylish. While various camo based accessories will have you looking fresh for the chilly winter season. We appreciate quality and usability. The transition from the course, to your local eatery, has never been easier with Greyson’s ultra-stylish active wear. Be on the lookout for even more products releasing mid- December, just in time for the perfect gift.

Loudmouth Golf Christmas Edition

A Holiday Gift Idea collection just wouldn’t be the same without a contribution from Loudmouth Golf.

The Loudmouth Christmas Collection features six patterns to choose from, g.iving you an excellent variety of products. Pants, Knickers, Shorts, Women’s Bermuda Shorts, and Skorts.

Loudmouth isn’t for everyone but for those of you out there that can put aside your digressions and loosen up a little bit; you might find out just how entertaining Loudmouth is to wear. I love my Loudmouth gear and have a blast everytime I’m out on the course, or out for my weekend errands.

Ranging in price from $68-$395 there’s an option for most everyone looking to get a unique gift for their special someone. Loudmouth has done a fantastic job creating a brand that covers a massive amount of products. If you’re in the market for almost anything, there’s a good chance Loudmouth has a version with their unique look. Spend some time on their website, and you’re bound to find a gift for this holiday season, and it doesn’t have to be Christmas themed. With such a wide variety of merchandise, it’s practically impossible to NOT find something.

TRUE Linkswear Shoes

TRUE Linkswear has been around for a while now. I know this because my collection of shoes from them is starting to get obtrusive with the rest of my closet. However, that’s not going to stop me from continuing to support the brand.

For 2017 TRUE Linkswear completely revamped their shoes and went back to what I feel got them recognition in the first place. Comfort and function. The new Outsider and Original are the best shoes to come out of the TRUE factory in a few years. They cranked up the quality and waterproofing and somehow made the damn things even more comfortable than the previous releases. Which I didn’t think was possible.

The Outsider sells for $169.00 and the Original for $149.00 Considering the price of a well-made, high-quality nowadays, the TRUE shoes are an excellent option for a gift that won’t blow your budget.

I’ve heard that there are even more new shoes in the works. Keep your eyes open around the PGA Show (Late January). Typically this is when companies like to bring out their new products to the masses.

That’s a wrap (pun intended)

I hope you all liked our first ever Holiday Gift Idea List. There are some great products that we all recommend and use.

I liked doing this a lot more than I thought I would. It was fun to go over the list with JT and figure out what we were going to include and what just missed the cut. Let us know in the comments below your thoughts on the list and if you feel we missed out on a company that should be included.

From everyone here at The Breakfast Ball, we wish all of you a Happy Holiday Season! Now go spend some money!
