When it comes to protecting yourself from the harmful rays our amazing Sun puts out I’ve been just a little bit narrow minded. My wife is constantly reminding me that I need to put sunscreen on but it’s always been a hassle or a nuisance for me to lather up with some stinky, smelly oily sun block so I never bother with it. I’m lucky enough that I have a small amount of native Indian blood flowing through my veins and because of that I tend not to burn like a lot of people do. I’ll get red but it turns to a nice tan the next day. I’ve never looked into the clothes that I wear though or how a simple product like a hat can provide some great protection from the elements.
Never feeling the full effects of a real sunburn (minus the first day I spent in Aruba several years ago) protecting myself from the sun has been an afterthought for a long time. Now that I’m getting older and because I’d like to keep my skin somewhat in tact, I’ve finally woken up to the realization that I’m doing some potentially serious damage to my skin by not protecting it the way I should. Living out in the desert I’m exposed to the Sun much more than your average person and when you throw in a round of golf or a full day at the soccer fields with my kids the time spent in the harmful UV rays adds up quickly.
The Death Valley Challenge is just a little over two months away and it is the main reason why I started thinking about this subject. What better way than the DVC to showcase a company’s product who’s entire line has been created to protect people from the Suns harmful rays and after some much needed research on the matter I came across this little wonderful company called SunGrubbies.
I reached out to SunGrubbies and asked if they would like to be a part of the DVC and help us spread the word about the event. They very much wanted to help us out so it is with great please that I introduce SunGrubbies as our newest sponsor for the 2013 Death Valley Challenge.
To show their support of the DVC SunGrubbies is offering a 15% discount off your entire purchase at their website. Just use the code SunDVC at checkout.
I stumbled across their website because they have a section of golf related material, but in no way are they limited to just golf apparel. They have many different products to choose from and for me I’m looking forward to finally giving my big ole head some much needed protection!

I want to say a very big Thank You to Marta Phillips for helping us out and being a part of the 2013 Death Valley Challenge!!
