I did some revamping of my Vegas Bucket List page the other day and realized I’m almost done! Hard to believe that there’s only a good handful of courses left in the valley that I haven’t played.
The remaining courses I have left totals 14 not including some of the courses out in Mesquite or Laughlin, I’m trying to keep the Vegas facilities separate for now.
Next weekend I’m heading out to Boulder Creek so that’s going to knock off another local course leaving me with lucky #13 to go!
The remaining local courses I have yet to play are:
- Stallion Mountain
- Painted Desert
- Highland Falls
- Eagle Crest
- Paiute – Wolf Course
- Paiute – Snow Course
Then there are the private courses I haven’t made my way onto:
- Southern Highlands Golf Club
- TPC Summerlin
- Anthem Country Club
- Las Vegas Country Club
- Red Rock Country Club
That leaves just two courses and I grouped them together because I consider them to be rather exclusive:
- Shadow Creek
- Wynn Las Vegas
Obviously my top three to go play, if I could tee it up tomorrow, would be Southern Highlands, Shadow Creek or The Wynn. I mean if you’re going to go big might as well GO BIG, right? Anyway, I’ve been “promised” a round out at Shadow Creek by some fella from Missouri and I have a few contacts that I believe can help get me out on Anthem and LV Country Club. Of course the local track I’m not worried about, their time will come eventually.
My ultimate round though would be to get out and play Southern Highlands Golf Club. Ever since I walked the course and watched the Colligate Masters a few years ago I’ve been dreaming about teeing it up there. There is just something majestic about the course that makes you feel like you’re in the presence of royalty.
It’s been a good year so far for the Bucket List. I’ve managed to cross off 7 courses (South Shore, Spanish Trails, Cascata, Siena, Bears Best, TPC Las Vegas & Bali Hai) and after Boulder Creek that will be a total of 8 new courses played this year.
With a little bit of luck and maybe some of my charm (ha) I’ll be able to get this list completed by the end of 2014, at least that’s my goal.

That could be a possibility just me in town for the 19th / 20th weekend. My friends aren’t coming into town until Monday (their kids are a little younger than mine and they have family events that weekend). Anyone other than yourself on your end interested in playing Southern Highlands on the 20th?
Mathew Wangrycht
All check with my guys and see if anyone is interested. Count me in for sure though!!

I requested a tee time for Sunday the 20th …. will know something tomorrow when shop is back open. Green fees were a little more than I thought for “guests” at Southern Highlands $175 + caddie ($40) and tip. I guess that isn’t terrible considering exclusivity of course and unaccompanied guests are $475 + +. I requested a foursome, will just be me on my end so if you have friends they are welcome to join. Only thing I ask is that you get strong commitments as Southern Highlands isn’t very flexible when it comes to last minute cancellations. I am sure we all have that friend that always says they are coming yet has some reason to cancel at the last minute. I will let you know tomorrow once a time is confirmed and you can advise if you have others wanting to play.

Great blog….I am fortunate enough to be a member at Southern Highlands and would love to have you join me for a round. Anytime you are in town let me know if I am around we can tee it up together. If nothing else I can at least get you access to course. Also in my opinion there are a couple courses on your list that aren’t worth your time to play and a couple that are missing. Would be happy to give some recommendations if you are interested.

Thanks for checking out my site! Appreciate the feedback. I’m a resident here in Vegas, have been for 40 years but I’d love to hear your take on the courses for sure. Which ones am I missing? Thank you also for the invite out to Southern Highlands, certainly am going to have to take you up on that offer!
Again, thanks for taking the time to read the blog!!

Sounds like a great time. Plan is to play Southern Highlands Monday and Friday and TPC Summerlin Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday after Shiner event over weekend. Cool site, you have obviously put quite a bit of time and work into it. Shocked as many of the courses that you have played that you haven’t been out to play Wolf and Snow at Paiute yet. Other than the wind easily 2 of the best tracks in town. I stumbled across your site because we were contemplating Conestoga and was looking for “course reviews” every time we go out to Mesquite we only play Wolf Creek (probably played 10-12 times).
Mathew Wangrycht
Paiute is so far across the valley for me is really the only reason I haven’t been back out. I have played out there once and were going to play Wolf for our Winter Classic this year.
Did you go play Conestoga? I love that place.
Robby Anderson
Playing Conestoga in 2 weeks. Was just looking today when I stumbled across your page. Wasn’t sure I wanted to make the long trip out there to play and was trying to decide.

It’s a great course. They just finished their overseeding as well. Greens should much better for you by then. They were in pretty bad shape last weekend.
Robby Anderson
Yeah, i know TPC is having major greens issues and starting to panic a little before PGA event. I think our plan is to fly in Friday PGA event Sat / Sun. Conestoga Mon. TPC Summerlin Tues / Wend. South Shore Thursday. Southern Highlands Friday. Coyote Springs Saturday. What did you think of South Shore, never played there and similar to Conestoga kind of flip flopping if we want to play.
Mathew Wangrycht
South Shore is outstanding! Great Nicklaus course. Another jewel in the desert is The Chase at Coyote Springs. Closer than Mesquite from Vegas and an amazing layout it’s another Nicklaus course.
Robby Anderson
All right on your recommendation we will give South Shore a shot. Used to play at Reflection Bay and The Falls before Lake Las Vegas demise. Would be great to get out to the Lake and play again.

Coyote Springs / DragonRidge and Southern Highlands my 3 favorite courses in town to play. Play a lot out at Coyote Springs, usually play 36 anytime we head out there, probably get in 20 rounds a year out there. Seriously little odd to have never met someone and invite them out to golf but we have room a couple days in our foursome if you have any interest in playing. I think the rates are pretty good also, Summerlin and Southern Highlands are both around $100 to play + caddie at Southern Highlands.
Mathew Wangrycht
Incredibly interested in playing Southern. My 9-5 will probably hinder a Friday round out there. I’m pretty tied down during the week. Sunday the 20th would be a good day for me, let me know where you’re playing once it’s all set up.
